Bacteriostatic Water, commonly known as bac water, is a water solution containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, serving as a preservative. This explicitly inhibits bacterial growth, making it excellent for diluting peptides. Researchers globally prefer biostatic water for its reliability and effectiveness in reconstitution, ensuring their studies yield valid and reproducible results.
- Formulated with minimal Benzyl Alcohol.
- Silicone stopper for smooth multiple penetrations while maintaining a secure seal.
- RTF vials are Depyrogenated, and ETO Sterilized.
- Tamper-evident aluminium flip top.
Storage Guidelines
- Lyophilized Peptides:
- For longer-term storage, freeze atย -20ยฐCand avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
- Keep away from direct light and moisture.
- Reconstituted Peptides:
- Store in a sterile vial at 2โ8ยฐC for short-term use (up to 2 weeks).
Reconstitution Steps
- Preparation:
- Use sterile, bacteriostatic water, or a buffer appropriate for your research.
- Ensure the vial and materials are sterile to prevent contamination.
- Concentration:
- Adjust the diluent volume based on the desired peptide concentration for your research needs.
- Excessive dilution can compromise peptide integrity and reduce effectiveness. To prevent fragmentation and breakdown of peptides, use 1 to 2.5 ml of solution for reconstitution unless related studies confirm that a higher volume is safe.
- Reconstitution:
- Allow both the peptide vial and the mixing solution (e.g., bacteriostatic water) to reach room temperature before mixing.
- Slowly add the diluent along the side of the vial to prevent foaming.
- Gently swirl the vial (do not shake) until the peptide is completely dissolved.
Additional Notes
- Avoid exposing peptides to extreme pH, as this can degrade the peptide.
- Refer to the product-specific datasheet for optimal reconstitution conditions.
- Discard any peptide solutions that appear cloudy, discoloured, or contaminated.
